This was painted during a family trip in the French Alps, on our last day, as the sun was finishing to disappear behind Croisse Baulet and the chalets under started flickering alight. I had painted the same view a few times during this trip, at different hours of the day and under different weather condition. I had painted it that same morning too, but I particularly enjoyed it in the evening : when the last light of the day disappearing behind made the mountains look even more grand.
