This piece is from a series of paintings based on journeys in and around the edge-lands of the city. These are liminal spaces where the natural and human-made compete. My intention is to portray the melancholic beauty of forgotten sites in states of physical dereliction and reclamation by nature.
This painting shows the redundant and abandoned remains of a fireworks factory in marshland on the edge of Dartford.
