'Dreamland' depicts the interior of a pub in Stoke Newington. I found the setting by accident and was struck by how the accumulation of cinematic memorabilia transformed the quiet space, giving it noise, memory, and nostalgia. Although the room was silent, the characters on the walls gave it color and life. Surrounded by these figures, the viewer becomes the one being watched: for once, the movie characters were the silent spectators and I was the one on display for them.
