As its name suggests 'Above Trebarwith Strand' was made from drawings high up on the cliff above Trebarwith Beach in Cornwall. My aim with this painting was to portray more than the merely visual, to try and capture the feeling of precariousness brought on by the plunging away of the cliff down to the swirl of sea and rock below. It is also a painting about edges, the interaction of land and sea and how they shape each other over eons, as the big waves roll in and pound away relentlessly at the cliff edge, the rocks below leaving a record of that deep time.
